What we collect
Account information: name, nickname, email address, phone number (optional), date of birth, password (stored hashed).
Profile information: avatar, cover photo, bio, profession, marital status, country, city, social links, anything you choose to add.
Content: posts, stories, shorts, comments, voice notes, reactions, follows.
Device + technical: device model, operating system version, IP address, app version, push-notification token.
Usage: which screens you open, which posts you react to, search queries, session duration (used only to improve the Service).
How we use it
To provide the Service: render your feed, deliver your messages, notify you of activity, authenticate you.
To enforce these Terms and our Community Guidelines: moderate content, investigate reports, prevent abuse.
To improve the Service: anonymized usage analytics, A/B tests, bug investigation.
To communicate with you: transactional emails (sign-up OTP, password reset, account state) and in-app notifications. We do not send marketing email.
To meet legal obligations: responding to lawful requests from authorities where required, tax records.
Who we share with
We do not sell your data.
We share data with:
Service providers needed to operate ChaiTalk: AWS (data hosting, S3 media storage, SES email), Bunny CDN (media delivery), Firebase (push notifications). Each is contractually bound to use the data only to provide their service.
Other users as your settings allow. Public posts are visible to anyone; Followers posts to your followers; Only me posts to no one.
Authorities where required by law, valid court order, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
Your rights
You can:
See and edit your account information at any time in Settings.
Delete your account at any time (30-day grace window as described in the Terms).
Request a copy of the data we hold about you by emailing privacy@chaitalk.app.
Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
Ask us to stop processing your data for specific purposes (e.g. usage analytics).
We respond to data requests within 30 days.
Where we store data
Your data is stored on AWS infrastructure in Seoul, South Korea (ap-northeast-2). Media files (photos, videos, voice notes) are served through the Bunny CDN with edge locations worldwide.
By using the Service you consent to your data being transferred to and stored on these servers.
